The BEP Curriculum Improvement offer includes specialist–led subject networks in English and in 10 foundation subjects. Each course will be delivered by experts in their field. This session will be led by Sport Birmingham.
This workshop aims to equip teachers with practical and engaging strategies for
preparing pupils for school swimming lessons. Participants will learn about pre-swimming familiarisation techniques, physical literacy activities related to swimming, and water safety interventions that can be integrated into the school curriculum. The workshop will combine presentations, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities, pool based in-water activities to ensure participants have a comprehensive understanding of the requirements of school swimming and water safety. Participants will also have the opportunity to share experiences and best practices with one another.
The Rise Gymnastics Curriculum workshop will focus on increasing teachers’ knowledge of the British Gymnastics Rise Gymnastics programme and award scheme and how to apply it into a school setting. The course will increase teachers understanding of how Rise gymnastics can be used to support pupils’ holistic development and to create a progressive primary school pathway of gymnastics in curriculum PE. Through an element of con course practical delivery, the course will also aid teacher’s understanding of how to lead gymnastics lessons and to create engaging activities that meet the different needs of the children within their lesson. Teachers will also be signposted to post course support to ensure they leave feeling supported with the ongoing delivery of curriculum gymnastics.
DanceThe session will give teachers a toolkit of creative dance activities to use with children and young people and how they can incorporate dance in their curriculum. Suitable for nonspecialists as well as those with some dance experience. We hope the workshop will ‘demystify’ the process of planning and delivering engaging dance lessons for the non-specialist teacher, whilst providing fresh and updated skills for those with more experience.
