After the launch in 2016, the Conference now returns annually in the Autumn term. The mission has always been about bringing our community of Birmingham schools together and we are delighted that we are able to do that in person again this year. It is essential that we continue to connect to build strong, supportive and mutually beneficial local and city-wide partnerships, ensuring that no school is left isolated. This year’s conference will enable participants to gain knowledge and learning from respected speakers in their field as well as practical input from their peers through a variety of workshops.
Post pandemic Britain is beset by a cost of living crisis and recession; the public sector is on its knees.
The privilege of our role as educators in these critical times is that we have influence, and we have choice. As individuals and as a collective, do we hunker down and cut our cloth, narrowing our horizons and our dreams or, do we innovate, pressing forward courageously, even generously, and inspire others to follow?
This year’s conference aims to take leaders beyond the choice between optimism and pessimism, risk and caution. It seeks to uphold innovation in the face of adversity, to envision intelligent and positive ways of leading education through these challenging times.
We are thrilled to announce our line-up of speakers so far, including; John Humphrys (Broadcast Journalist), Toby Greany (Professor of Education, University of Nottingham), Becky Allen (Professor of Education, Co-founder & Chief Analyst at Teacher Tapp and Founder of Education Datalab), Josh Connolly (Resilience Coach and one of the UK’s most influential Mental Health advocates), Prof. Pedro Noguera (Distinguished Professor of Education at the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies & Faculty Director for the Center for the Transformation of Schools at UCLA), Diana Osagie (Leadership Coach, Author of Courageous Leadership & founder of Academy of Women’s Leadership).
