Intermediate Senior Mental Health lead Training - Course Code SMHL100

BEP Mental Health & Wellbeing
1 day and 2 half days Starting Thursday 9th May 2024

The Department for Education (DfE) is offering a grant for eligible state-funded schools and colleges to undertake senior mental health lead training. This course has been quality assured for the DfE senior mental health lead training grant. Course Code: SMHL100.

Through our experience working with schools, we know that Mental Health Leads who may already have a foundational level of experience want to explore ways to deepen and progress their school’s action plans or consolidate knowledge and relate back to theory to continue to drive change. This training will help you to make the next steps and grow in your leadership role and strengthen the work you are already undertaking in your school.

Training will include the role of the Senior Mental Health Lead as set out by the DfE, a greater level of theoretical input and discussion

NB: This is a 2 and a half day training course and should be attended by the same person on each day.

This will be face to face training - venue TBC.

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION** This is a really exciting and important opportunity and we want as many Birmingham settings as possible to be able to take advantage in this round. As grants for this financial year are limited, please apply for your grant before you book onto this training.

There will be DfE grants available for eligible schools to cover all or some of the cost of training courses. The DfE will be operating a waiting list once all grants have been allocated. The Senior mental health lead training gov.uk page is updated with information for schools and colleges on how to choose and book a training course, eligibility criteria and grant conditions and applying for the grant. You will need to check your own eligibility. If you book using the grant process, you must retain emails etc as evidence of your booking and the course code for the training you are booking on to as these will be used for verification by the DfE. All information can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/senior-mental-health-lead-training

There is a tool to help you select an appropriate training based on your needs that can be found here: https://www.leedsbeckett.ac.uk/smhl. We understand that it is currently the aim of the DfE to make grants available to all maintained schools by 2025 We hope as many of you as possible are able to take up this opportunity.
