The Department for Education (DfE) is offering a grant for eligible state-funded schools and colleges to undertake senior mental health lead training. Details of how to apply for the grant are below.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This course has been assured for DfE grant-funded Senior Mental Health Lead Training.
Course Code: SMHL100
Through our experience working with schools, we know that Mental Health Leads who may already have a foundational level of experience want to explore ways to deepen and progress their school’s action plans or consolidate knowledge and relate back to theory to continue to drive change. This training will help you to make the next steps and grow in your leadership role and strengthen the work you are already undertaking in your school.
Training will include the role of the Senior Mental Health Lead as set out by the DfE, a greater level of theoretical input and discussion
NB: This is a 2 day training course (1 full day and 2 half days) and should be attended by the same person on each day.
This will be face to face training. All dates will be held at MAKE UK Technology Hub.
**IMPORTANT INFORMATION**
The DfE Senior Mental Health Lead grant application process is live.
This is a really exciting and important opportunity and we want as many Birmingham settings as possible to be able to take advantage in this round.
Please read all of the bullet point below to ensure that you are able to comply with all of the small print.
A further £3 million has been announced meaning that senior leads who meet our eligibility criteria can reserve a grant and proceed to book a course starting before 31 May 2022.
Guidance from DfE regarding grant application
As an authorised provider we have been asked to advise learners to see the guidance at Senior mental health lead training - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). Learners are being asked to apply (completing the first application form – Form 1), and waiting until after 1 April 2022 to upload evidence of a course booking (Form 2). Learners will be contacted by email when they are able to do this second step. The DfE have asked us to reassure learners that your grant is reserved once you have successfully completed the first form confirming your eligibility. DfE has so far honoured every grant application made, and retrospective payment of grants is normal practice.
The bullets below give you more detail. Be aware there are a number of hyperlinks here which give you the ‘small print’ which you must ensure you have checked:
We hope as many of you as possible are able to take up this opportunity.
