BEP Mental Health & Wellbeing

Overview:

The Department for Education (DfE) is offering a grant for eligible state-funded schools and colleges to undertake senior mental health lead training. Details of how to apply for the grant are below.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This course has been quality assured for the DfE senior mental health lead training grant. Course Code: SMHL100

Through our experience working with schools, we know that Mental Health Leads who may already have a foundational level of experience want to explore ways to deepen and progress their school’s action plans or consolidate knowledge and relate back to theory to continue to drive change. This training will help you to make the next steps and grow in your leadership role and strengthen the work you are already undertaking in your school.

Training will include the role of the Senior Mental Health Lead as set out by the DfE, a greater level of theoretical input and discussion

NB: This is a 2 day training course (1 full day and 2 half days) and should be attended by the same person on each day. This will be face to face training. All dates will be held at MAKE UK Technology Hub.

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION**

The DfE have asked us to reassure learners that your grant is reserved once you have successfully completed the first form confirming your eligibility. DfE has so far honoured every grant application made, and retrospective payment of grants is normal practice.

  • Find out how your school or college can apply for a grant and access DfE quality assured training: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/senior-mental-health-lead-training

  • If you book using the grant process, you must retain emails etc as evidence of your booking and the course code for the training you are booking on to as these will be used for verification by the DfE.

  • There is a tool to help you select an appropriate training based on your needs that can be found here: https://www.leedsbeckett.ac.uk/smhl.

  • We understand that it is currently the aim of the DfE to make grants available to all maintained schools by 2025

We hope as many of you as possible are able to take up this opportunity.
