CPD for Arts Organisations - Developing the work of Arts organisations in a Secondary Setting

Birmingham Arts School
Monday 10th March 2025
12:00 - 14:00

Overview:

This session is designed to help arts organisations understand the secondary curriculum and explore how they can work with schools to create impactful, curriculum-aligned arts projects. The session will provide valuable insights into the challenges schools face when integrating arts initiatives and offer strategies for arts organisations to overcome these hurdles.

Schools face numerous pressures, including curriculum restrictions, timetabling challenges, and resource limitations, which can make it difficult to accommodate arts projects. While arts organisations often propose excellent initiatives, they may not align with a school’s specific curriculum needs or logistical realities. This session aims to bridge that gap by helping arts organisations better understand the secondary school environment and how to co-create projects that address both creative and curricular goals.

This session will be led by Harpinder Singh, Headteacher of Queensbridge School, and Bhavik Parmar, Director of Birmingham Arts School.

  • To explore the importance of the arts in life, education, and adolescence.
  • To identify key differences and similarities between primary and secondary schools in arts integration.
