Arts Partnership Showcase: Sampad and Desi Blitz
Arts Partnership Showcases provide headteachers with a chance to observe live arts practice in schools, meet arts organizations, and discuss how to integrate these practices into their own settings.
In 2024/2025, Birmingham Arts School will host three showcases featuring live arts demonstrations and presentations from arts organizations on their educational offers. The next showcase will be held at Colmore Junior School (Colmore Road, Birmingham B14 6AJ) on Monday 2nd June from 1:20 pm to 3:20 pm, featuring Sampad and Desi Blitz.
Headteachers and arts leads will hear from Ruth Bond, Assistant Headteacher at Colmore Junior School, on embedding arts into school practice, and Birmingham Arts School will outline how they can support schools in connecting with cultural partners.
Attendees will witness Sampad delivering their Bhangra Dance workshop that celebrates South Asian arts and heritage and see its impact on student learning and teacher curriculum outcomes. Sampad offers school workshops in South Asian arts like dance, music, and storytelling, with programs like superhero-themed exhibitions to support cultural learning.
Attendess will then hear from Desi Blitzabout their unique program exploring Shakespeare's influence on India and Bollywood, using their hand-painted DESIblitz truck art bus. DesiBlitz provides educational resources on British Asian culture, offering online workshops and articles to enhance cultural awareness in schools and communities.
