Arts Partnership Showcase: B:Music and The Play House
Arts Partnership Showcases provide headteachers with a chance to observe live arts practice in schools, meet arts organizations, and discuss how to integrate these practices into their own settings.
In 2024/2025, Birmingham Arts School will host three showcases featuring live arts demonstrations and presentations from arts organizations on their educational offers. The next showcase will be held at Nishkam High School ( ) on Tuesday 29th April from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, featuring B:Music and The Play House.
Headteachers and arts leads will hear from Sarah Cobon, Subject Leader of Music at Nishkam High School, on embedding music as part of their after-school enrichment programme, and Birmingham Arts School will outline how they can support schools in connecting with cultural partners. They will first partake in a presentation by The Play House who offer a range of interactive workshops in schools, using participatory theatre to bring the curriculum to life for ages 3 to 11. They also design bespoke projects, fostering creativity and imagination, while offering CPD for teachers to integrate drama into learning. Attendees will then witness the afterschool session delivered by B:Music to see the impact on student learning and enrichment outcomes. B:Music offer a range of musical workshops aimed at school-aged children, including jazz and gospel sessions, which allow participants to explore and develop skills in ensemble performance. They also hold regular workshops and performance opportunities, including summer programs and ongoing music-making sessions for diverse skill levels, facilitated by professional musicians at Symphony Hall.
