This day will offer delegates a broad and deep insight into best practices in developing and maintaining a high-quality art and design curriculum, aligned with Ofsted expectations. Delegates will explore the sequential progression of knowledge in art across its mediums, what the essential policy, systems and subject leadership themes are, what assessment in art looks like, and developing sketchbook use through a sketchbook buffet (looking at books from each attendees schools). Delegates will also explore the fundamental concepts, elements, principles and concepts of art underpinning the subject and learn new skills in critiquing and analysing art with the children. Michele Gregson, CEO of NSEAD and Dianne Quinn will lead a session on developing a robust and inclusive art curriculum and share with delegates the Big Landscape - a new national tool to support Art and Design teachers in developing the curriculum, pedagogy and practice. This will be an inspiring day of learning suitable for art subject leaders at all stages of their careers and offer many new strategies, action planning and ideas to take back into school. It is also an ideal opportunity to meet, share practice and work with your peers from across the city before the network meetings.
Delegates will be asked to bring sketchbook examples from KS1 and KS2
