One Dance UK - CPD for Primary Teachers
Monday 18th March - 12.30pm – arrival and lunch. 1 – 3.30pm – workshop.
Birmingham Arts School is running a CPD Programme in 2024 with various arts organisations delivering teacher training sessions. These sessions are a perfect opportunity for teachers to gain new skills, pick up teaching resources and share this new practice with their students. One Dance UK are providing the following CPD as part of our CPD Programme.
Introduction to Primary Dance
This CPD is the perfect preparation for anyone delivering dance in primary settings, whether you are new to teaching dance or an experienced dance teacher wanting to refresh your knowledge and ideas. Through exploring engaging activities linked to the development of key dance skills, you will develop your subject knowledge of dance and be provided with key tools to help you plan and deliver imaginative and progressive dance sessions. The session will embed theoretical learning through practical application and will include a combination of theoretical and practical activities.
Key topics explored during the session will be; the benefits of dance, building understanding of key dance terminology and the components of dance (action, space, dynamics, and relationships), and applying learnt knowledge to design and structure fun and engaging dance lessons.
By the end of the session, you will:
Location: Dance Hub, Thorp Street, Birmingham, B5 4TB. When arriving please use the stage door entrance on Thorp Street. You will then need to take the lift to Level 3.
Lunch provided. Please provide dietary requirements when booking.
