Playhouse Project and Birmingham Rep opportunity

The Rep are pleased to announce that it has once more partnered with Playhouse Project.

Delivered nationally across the UK, Playhouse is a unique participatory theatre project that commissions writers to create new work for school children aged 8-11 years. Offering training to teachers, rehearsal support and festivals to perform in; Playhouse connects school with professional theatres, writers and theatre makers, so they may be inspired and empowered to experience the benefits of professional theatre making.

The Rep are looking for schools to join us in this project, which will include:

  • Reading through 4 plays written specifically for the project, and choosing one for your school to perform
  • A digital writer's workshop, where teachers can receive support on how to direct their chosen piece
  • An in- person workshop with a Rep facilitator who will feedback on rehearsal process, and deliver practical workshop to the students to support their performance. (worth £200+VAT)
  • Consistent support from The Rep facilitator throughout the rehearsal process
  • An opportunity to perform in The Door theatre as part of our Summer Festival 7-21st July (worth £500+VAT)

The costs of taking part in this project per school is £550+VAT. If you are interested in taking part, please get in touch with Becky Reidy, Head of Education, at rebecca.reidy@birmingham-rep.co.uk
