5. Bring the DESIblitz Truck Art Project to Your School!

We’re inviting schools to take part in an exciting and immersive experience with the DESIblitz Truck Art Bus—a vibrant, hands-on workshop exploring the rich tradition of South Asian truck art!

DESIblitz Truck Art shares links between Shakespeare and Bollywood - University of Birmingham

What’s Involved?

📌 The Truck Art Bus comes to your playground, offering a creative, cultural experience for students.

📌 Each workshop (1hr 15mins with 30 students) includes:

✅ Exploring the history and significance of truck art – Shakespeare Meets Bollywood!

✅ A storytelling activity inspired by the designs – Hands on Practical Drama Faciliation

✅ Hands-on truck art creation through sketching, stencil work & patterns

📌 Pre- and post-workshop activities provided to extend learning

How Schools Can Get Involved?

The total project cost is £725+VAT, which can be shared among up to 5 schools, making it a collaborative and cost-effective experience. Schools can participate in two ways:

🔹 Option A – One host school welcomes students from nearby schools to join workshops at their site.

🔹 Option B – If schools are close together, the Truck Art Bus can travel between locations, delivering sessions at multiple schools.

Example Schedule

We can tailor timings to suit your school day! Here’s how a full-day schedule might work if one-school can host the Truck Art Bus:

School 1 (Host) – 9:00am - 10:30am
School 2 – 10:30am - 12:00pm
School 3 – 12:00pm - 1:30pm
School 4 – 1:30pm - 3:00pm
School 5 – 3:00pm - 4:30pm (Afterschool session, could include parents too)

So either one school can book for a day of immersive workshops led by two DBS-checked experienced practitioners. OR we can alter the timings to allow for travel time between multiple schools. Sessions need to be a minimum of 45 minutes to make sure students get the best experience of the Truck Art Bus.

Why Get Involved?

✨ A unique, cultural learning experience aligned with art, history & literacy

✨ Affordable through cost-sharing across multiple schools

✨ Flexible scheduling to fit your school’s needs

We’re looking for schools who want to collaborate and help bring this exciting cultural project to life! Get in touch to discuss how we can work together. We can be bespoke in our workshop curation for your school so if this is something you are interested in developing amongst your consortia or network of schools, get in touch. We have availability throughout the summer term and in the Autumn Term of 2025.
