Overview:

The Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust (YGAM), is a national charity with the social purpose to inform, educate and safeguard young people from the potential harms of gaming and gambling.

This is achieved through evidence-led, evaluated, and assured education programmes and resources for anyone that works with or cares for young and vulnerable people including teachers, youth workers, community volunteers and mental health specialists.

YGAM Education Programme is City & Guilds assured and their resources are the winners of the Children and Young People now PSHE Award 2020.

The session will last 2.5 hours and will cover:

  • Gaming, Gambling, the blurred lines between the two, and how increasingly young people are exposed to them

  • The external influences such as advertising and the effect that this can have on young people

  • The role of in-game purchases and the links to gambling behaviour

  • What signs to be aware of when someone is experiencing harm and where you can go for extra support and where to signpost young people to.

Upon completion, you will have access to close to 500 resources designed to be used directly with young people covering a broad range of topics and learning outcomes. They aim to build skills, knowledge, and resilience whilst importantly starting the conversations.
